In the US, the head of aircraft maker Boeing has apologized to the relatives of victims killed in crashes involving its planes in 2018 and 2019.

Chief executive Dave Calhoun was giving testimony at hearings in the Senate. In all, 346 people were killed in the accidents, caused by problems with the flight-control software.

For more on this, we talk to Kate Ferguson from DW Business, who has been following the proceedings.

Apologize for not firing the entire board years ago for their incompetence and greed being prioritized above safety and quality manufacturing. Apologize to the Boeing employees being harassed, threatened and abused by management for calling out quality and safety concerns.

Boeings entire top suits must be replaced and charged.
They are not only unqualified for the job by any standard, they are also willfully reckless.

All they say is SORRY but never fix the problems with the plane!

Asking sorry doesn't mean one is guilty. But one takes responsibility for what wrong happened.

Clean out the management from the top down, appalling the safety issues that have been swept under the rug ! Thanks to the whistleblowers, who are no longer with us, we know the gross negligence of Management, how safety was the least of their concerns. What a bloody disgrace, these are the type of people overseeing the flying public's safety. ❌

I flew twice on Air Canada's Boeing 737 MAX 8 jets prior to the two fatal crashes that killed over 300 people. I could have been one of those fatalities caused by Boeing shareholder greed and incompetence. IN MY VIEW, NO APOLOGY ON EARTH CAN REDEEM BOEING. I have lost all trust in Boeing and will not fly on any of their jets.

Cost cutting continues even after bad press and whistle blowers. You are not a human you are a consumer and your life is calculated has a dollar figure. ;)

2:40 I didn't quite understand why these two were giggling so much when they cut back to the studio. It wasn't even like nervous laughter, they were just so jolly and casual after watching victims' relatives speak through tears. A bit bizarre.

John Oliver did a great episode about Boeing. All of Boeing’s issues started after they merged with McDonnell Douglas. That’s when doors falling off, crashes, whistle-blowers (as in multiple people!) committing suicide, and etc. began happening!

The panel member seems confused between Boeing and Airbus!

The Boeing CEO should show his contrition by returning his compensation package

“A lot of companies have chosen to buy Airbus as a result of this “. And in 10 years they will take delivery of those planes.

Boing. Perhaps the greatest, most respected company in the world. Literally a hero of WWII. Destroyed virtually overnight by greed. Very sad.
