We just got back from our ten day trip to London & all of your videos ensured it was smooth & we were prepared! Cannot thank you enough and we’re already planning our trip back!!

Please have your payment ready too and also if you are stuck, when you go to the staff member to get help, be aware of keeping the barrier by then clear. That’s the large disabled/ pushchair/ large luggage barrier. As a wheelchair user, I can only use that barrier and the number of times tourists are blocking that in a group as they can’t work the barriers and I’m stuck waiting for them to see me and move. Staff often don’t see me for a while either as I’m low down and behind them. I can often tap tourists half a dozen times physically before they see me and finally move.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm traveling to London soon and it's been a while since I've been there so this advice is gold 🥇

If visiting the UK from the US or similar countries, DO CHECK how your bank cards charge for exchange rates etc. If you use your debit/credit card on London Transport you may get home to unexpected charges. This is when an Oyster Card might be a better option (even if you have to purchase them for £7.00 !). Also, if you plan to visit the UK again, the card can be used for future visits. An Oyster Card alone, will avoid 'mixing' payment methods too, while 'tapping' in and out to travel. But don't forget, you ONLY 'tap' in on buses (and NOT an as in when getting off)... 🤔 😊

Always stand on the right on the escalator - left side is for walking

True. I touched in with my monthly card and touched out with my work card as looked same. Bam£9.50. Went to Tahir station worker at Bethnel Green and got refunded. He was super nice

I still have my old Oyster card and it works perfectly. I now live in Sheffield, moving out in 2015. I checked it a year ago and still had £20 credit. Updated the payment card and i now use it to visit the BF.

If you do one of these, create a TFL account and request a refund. Its quite simple

Same applies for the electronic version and the physical version of the card you choose to pay with. They are considered different cards due to them having different card numbers. I had mine sorted by a friendly call centre person at TFL. Good advice being given, stick to one card, one method and you’ll be 👍

After LORD knows how many tube rides in my life I actually still didn't know that you couldn't mix phone/watch/card payments even if they were all connected to the same card. Haven't done it too many times but THIS IS IMPORTANT 🚨

And just to confirm, the daily fare cap is determined by which zones I've traveled in for the day, not the transport mode right? i.e., I can combine tube, overground, bus, and they all count towards the same cap?

When I lived there I had a 7 day weekly travel card, but when visiting now I just recharge my old oyster card.

I've made similar mistakes in San Francisco/BART. If you use the elevator in some stations (I have when carrying luggage) you can accidentally forget to scan in with your clipper card. You won't be able to exit. Fortunately the attendants know what happened and will let you out when you tell them the station you started at. L.A., you're OK, as you never need to scan out.

I had this situation last February when I paid at the barrier using Google wallet on my phone. When I tried to exit the barrier at another station that machine wouldn't except my phone, so I had to get out my card in order to exit. I have just checked my statement and I was charged an extra £2.50 on top of the £7.70 max charge for that day. I thought its still the same card either way I used it.
So thanks for the heads up. I will not be risking it again using my phone.

Good advice. Silly system. It's the card number that should be tracked, whether in physical form or via a device. 😮

I always use the same card on day trips but can never work out the tube journey charges at the end of the day. It's never the same even though normally stay in Zone 1

So I have a question
I got chared 10€ for one tube ride today - from Temple station to stepney green. Why is this price so high? I used the same card, tapped in and out.
In my receipt, they write that the normal cost is 1, 19€ and the additional price ~9€

Hiya, i really like your videos. I intend to travel to the UK and particularly London, i am just petrified that how would i do a payment. I can get the MasterCard but what do i have to do? Should i just have to tap the card and that's it. And again i am petrified i don't want to be the cause of long queue. Thanks
