I would have given the best affordable car award to the Mitsubishi ASX. Sure, it's a bit dated and doesn't look very space-age - however they're still under $29k drive-away for the auto, made in Japan, have the excellent Mitsubishi ten year warranty, etc., ultra-reliable and they'll still be rolling along when the VW has been recycled.

Stop making as if $30k (plus on roads) is “affordable” for a new car. It isn’t, every single manufacturer is taking advantage increasing the price of new cars and using all sorts of excuses to justify it. Anyway 2024 will be the year of discounts, the market is certainly shifting towards the buyer, not the manufacturer.

Hello from USA, I'm jealous of many cars you guys have that we don't have. We don't have any Chinese brands. All sedans and station wagon are disappring in favor of suv. It's amazing how CRV classified as medium suv versus compact in usa. Pilot is medium size. Full size is Tahoe, suburban, grand wagoneer, grand highlander. The crv is based on civc platform with is compact sedan. Over the years they definitely grow up in size

The 5 year servicing costs are very interesting. I'm assuming the associated kms are from the manufacturers? I have to say, the only realistic mileage to year ratio in there is the MG, and even that's pretty low IME. All the other companies seem to be using the "grandmother who only drives their car to church and back each Sunday" model. And the honda.. 50K kms isn't even 2 years for my use-case.

$50k for a base Golf, it is a joke. People with mortgages in Sydney and Melbourne can't afford to buy around $50k budget friendly heroes. Yet, you seem to make it very affordable and how these are a bargain, good job.

New cars are not going to get any cheaper... unfortunately. Prices will keep on rising in a more controlled way in 2024 - 2025. Euro 7 standard will result in another price jump. That's the sad reality.
