I am 80 years old and have Phonak hearing aids with TV streamer box. It works great, getting the sound directly into my ears. BUT the dialog on movies and other programs that put a lot of background noise can overpower the dialog. Dialog is what allows one to follow the story. I know that many programs put the dialog on the center channel. An audio receiver can increase the center channel and decrease the other background sound. So when will Hearing Aids or audio receivers allow me to increase the dialog and decrease other sound and stream that audio to my hearing aids?

As someone with a severe to profound hearing loss, I have enjoyed Widex unique 440's fashions with next loop that works really well because the neck loop is so small that it can be worn under a t shirt and most people dont know its even there and I like that. Only complaint I have is audio is not in stereo, only mono in both ears. I will still opt for small size, unlike the Phonak neck loop is a monster as far as size goes and not near as convenient.

I have the Oticon Open S. I'm not a big fan of the Connect Clip. I have to have the both the volume of the phone and the aids maxed out to be able to hear a phone call if there is any background noise. The sound quality on streaming music is also pretty bad. The connect clip microphone placement is on the front face, which means you cant hide it in a shirt pocket. I really hope they can figure out how to go right from the phone to the aids at some point.

Thanks for a very informative video! I just received my first pair of Oticon OPN's and have used them for 2 week. I have an Android S8 also and would like to be able to answer phone calls, hang up and listen to my messages - no music or You tube wanted. What device would YOU recommend I purchase?

I’m an 18 year old college student and a passionate music lover and a musician. I’ve lived through the first 17 years without any hearing problems at all. I’ve always had sharp hearing throughout my life . But I’ve noticed this past year or so (starting November 2017) that my ears aren’t the same . The clarity isn’t as good. My right ear seems to be better than my left. Sounds aren’t as full to me. Everything sounds more muffled. I’m scared because music is a big part of my life and the more I listen to music the more I’m bothered by the hearing loss, and it’s greatly affected me. I can’t even listen to music without it bothering me. However when I went to my Ear, Throat and Nose Doctor to check up my ear. They tested my ear and told me there was no problem. But I can feel the problem and it’s really upsetting me. I don’t know what to do. Any suggestions? What should I do? Should I get a hearing aid? Please help .

Hi Dr. Olson, could you do a review on the Nuheara - IQ Buds Boost.

They're bluetooth direct to IOS or Android. They use the NAL-NL2 prescription formula. I would like to get an Audiologists opinion.

Dr. Cliff, I have very unusual hearing loss.  I have moderate hearing loss in both ears but in the low tones.  I am on a trial period for 2 resound hearing aids but its still isn't amplifying the low tones enough.  Do you have an recommendations for "low tone" hearing loss hearing aids.
