Okay here to clear up some confusion.

This was a prearranged draw. Chessbase india posted the whole video including before the game, in which it has them agree to draw. That's why it's different to the many listed examples in the comments. It's not a "they think it's prearranged" it's "they know".

What Dubov and Nepo did is like if America and Canada were in the group stage of the FIFA World Cup in the final round and only needed a draw. So instead of playing a game they just shook hands and sat on the field for 90 minutes waiting for the clock to run out. USA and Canada would be punished as they should as nepo and dubov should.

My girl started getting angry at me for starting a new game, and I got a message from my opponent that his girl is angry at him for starting a game and asked me to accept the draw. They did lose any points, they decided to go for a no contest and by doing so they forfeited the points that they potentially could gain from that game.

The term “losing point” would be more correct if they were stripped from points that they’ve already gained.

The draw was done because there was some type of problem with the organization. The players did not want to play due to these issues. So thats pretty crazy to me because they could have also just pretended to have a real game for 10-20 moves and ask for a draw. So the players are being penilazed for being honest basically 😅
