Jonas fled his home in the Democratic Republic of Congo to find safety in the USA. After a long journey through Angola, Brazil, up through South America, and to Mexico, he believed he'd find rest once he entered the United States. Instead, he spent two years in immigration detention, a process which had long lasting effects on his mental health.
