The reason for the new design is the ease of assembly, due to the folding design. I’m surprised this is not being communicated in the UK. I checked the UK website and I’m not sure why they aren’t making that clear. In the US they are labeled as a NEW product, and have a new description: Wall mounted frame with rail. The assembly cost is drastically lower for the frames now as well.

Here in Canada online they are marked as new but nothing in the store indicates they are new. Before for months everything was out of stock accept the white. Now we have the grey and the beige and some white units in the new design. The new pieces were coming in very slowly. I just got my full order after getting pieces here and there. We put our first unit last weekend and I like the design- never put together the original but I did have concerns with it and getting it into my tight space. The new design fit no issue because of how it unfolds. One interesting thing I have run into is the pants rail I can not get. It is not even on the website anymore. I talked to two different people, one said the design is discontinued the other said it is not but has no more information. When I was in store getting pieces I saw the pant rails and they were marked discontinued with a discounted price but they did not have the colour and size I needed. When I check other countries it appears that they are readily available- this has me confused.

I was in a US IKEA today and was told by a closet design specialist not to include the corner units in my design because the corner units do not work with the new PAX units. No idea if that's true, but thought I'd pass it along.

The new version is not as sturdy. I'm sure they revised it because of safety issues. But this new version is horrible.

I love your videos! I'm trying to figure out how to do the built in Pax wardrobe with my mom. My ceilings are quite tall (290cm) so we're trying to figure out how to get the built in look for that height. I wish Ikea made taller options. Do you know if they have other units/cabinets that we could fit on top of the pax? Thanks so much!
