I plugged it in each night or at shopping centers and around town. I drove 900 miles the week I had it and did it all on one tank. Love the prime!

Believe it or not, we had been trying to obtain a Plugin Prius since the spring of 2021. As soon as the latest version of the Prius Prime was announced, we put down deposits at three different Toyota Dealerships to try to get one. However, living in Utah (a non CARB) state, as of this date NO Prius Primes have been allocated to any local dealers. We were fortunate enough to locate a Wind Pearl White XSE Prius Prime Ltd. at Bighorn Toyota in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. It was an easy five hour drive to drive over.
I agree with almost of all of Kirk’s comments about the XSE Prius Prime. It is a bit expensive. Ours sold exactly at the window sticker MSRP, at almost the same price as his test model.
We are not put off by the amount of hard plastic moldings in the interior. It is easier to keep clean than softer trims. Our previous 2014 Prius had lots of soft trim. It was a pain to keep clean. The sound level in the car is not too bad, but most of noise comes from the factory tires when driving on anything less than smooth paving. We drove a 2000 mile round trip to see the Solar Eclipse. It was absolutely a pleasure to drive. Now at home, we plug it in with the supplied level one charger. We see the gas station about once every six weeks or so. If we had to do it all over again, we wouldn’t change a thing. BTW, our iPhones wirelessly connect to Apple Car Play without any issues whatsoever. 😁

2024 Toyota Prius Prime 0 - 60 mph in 6.59 seconds. 1967 Chevrolet Camaro RS/SS 350 0 - 60 mph 7.9 seconds. These are the good old days.

I bought the 2024 Prius Prime XSE in red, have 3k miles on it and love it. I carefully compared it with the prius hybrid and glad I spent the extra money on the prime. It's easy to charge overnight in my garage and I'm consistently getting 40 miles of electric miles per charge. I love almost never needing to go to the gas station and the added cost to my monthly energy bill isn't very much. The car drives like a dream especially in electric mode, it just quietly glides along with power when you want it. I'm glad I'm not trying to drive with a light foot in order to get good gas miles as I would have if I bought the hybrid. The prime also feels a bit heavier than the hybrid which makes the steering feel a bit different. I highly recommend to go for the top of the line prime in order to get the better sound system if you enjoy music. All of the criticisms about this car such as, steering wheel position, rear view visibility, big front pillars, etc... I have gotten used to and do not think they are a big deal. I'd say the pillars may be the biggest consideration as there are times when I do need to look around them when turning. My only real disappointment is that they didn't allow for the sunroof to slide open but at least it's glass. Highly recommended.

I dropped by a Toyota dealer one day. There’s no one there. I’m the only customer. All the salespeople are congregating on one place bantering. I drive Toyota all my life; bought lots Toyota. When I used to go to Toyota dealers, there’s lots people all the time. Now you do not see a soul and they are claiming that Toyota cars are selling like a hotcakes. Are they making up the cars shortage so they can charge more? I’m not paying $5k over and above the MSRP! I’ll keep my cars forever or until the dealers prices comes down to earth!

I’ve had mine for three months and absolutely love it, I trickle charge at work so I haven’t been to the gas station once.

It’s powerful and zippy, when you push the accelerator down, you go back in your seat

I love the auto pilot, and it drives for you on the freeway. It’s great in traffic jams, hands-free driving.

Very smooth and quiet, it’s the best car I’ve ever owned and I love it

Totally agree with you on the PHEVs! I wish they offered a AWD version of the Prime. One good thing about Toyota and Prius is they have great reliability. My 2010 Gen 3 is runs great, even the interior looks great after 14 years (silver paint not so much!).

Fun review, I love the car, just wish (like so many things) it wasn't so expensive. Thanks Kirk!

This thing in EV mode is just as fast as the previous gen😵

I really appreciate how they have a solar roof option. Trickle charging the main battery is way better than trickle losses.

Great video as always. A great car if you can get your hands on it. Very curious to hear what you think about the new 2025 Civic Hybrid refresh and all the videos that just came out! 50MPG combined is crazy.

I live in Florida and am currently trying to obtain a Prius Prime. He is right about the availability! However, you can contact dealerships to get one as soon as they are allocated (which is what I am doing right now). Hopefully getting a Prius Prime XSE next month!

I’ve had my ‘23 Prime XSE Premium (Yellow 😎🇨🇦) since August 2023 and it has been great. Only flaw was the 12v battery failed on me (boosted), and was replaced on the spot under warranty.

Car has been flawless otherwise, regularly go weeks without using any gas at all. 👍🏻 Waiting on the recall about the electric locks on the back doors, but not an issue or concern since I have auto-lock when shifting the drive anyway.

Great all around car. More expensive than the old Prius, but also a lot more car for the money as well. Good thing in Canada is dealers cannot sell over MSRP, so no extortion situations... Solar roof is not available in Canada, but I prefer the glass roof anyway over the tiny amount of range the sun will provide. 🙂. It is also easy to exceed the spec EV range if you drive modestly, and do not use heat or AC. Cheers.

I live in your neck of the woods. It was funny to realize that while watching your review. My Prius Prime arrives to Germain Toyota in a couple of weeks. I'm excited, having been driving my current 2013 Prius into the ground for the last 10 years.

I am happy with my '24midnight black limited hybrid! This car is more refined than any of the other generations! Loaded with features! Quick all wheel drive makes it a fun car handles well! it sits lower in the seat than other generations! Have heard some complaints on the forums, but I am a mid 60s boomer and have no problem!

I drove Prius & Prius PHV from 2008-2015, still love the Prius. Wish they had a Lexus version.
