US & Canadian fighters intercept Russian & Chinese bombers near Alaska !

The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) intercepted two Russian and two Chinese bombers flying near Alaska.
This is the first time the two countries have been intercepted while operating together.

According to a statement from NORAD, the bombers remained in international airspace in Alaska’s Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ) and were “not seen as a threat,” 

The US and Canada, which together comprise NORAD, intercepted the Russian TU-95 Bear and Chinese H-6 bombers which were escorted by Russian Su-30SM and Su-35S fighters. Both TU-95 & H-6 are nuke-delivery capable strategic platforms.

It also marks the first time H-6 bombers, which are a derivative of older Soviet bombers, have entered the Alaska ADIZ.

The intercept was carried out by U.S. F-16 and F-35 fighter jets and Canadian CF-18 fighter jets, supported by several other assets.

The Russians do this every other year, not that big of a deal, but how often it happens shows how active the respective country is, like Russian did this a lot before they invaded Ukraine, this just show that both are going to be working together a lot more in the future and be more agressive elsewhere

This was not a threat. Had China or Russia posed a real threat, the Alaskan Air National Guard would have sent up the F-22s.

Business As Usual in the Cold War except China also trying to also become a player. If China continues the prodding who cares. The US has been pushing back on Chinese Territorial Aggression for some years, so who cares. This gives the US and Canadian Air Force a more realistic way to “practice”. What the Chinese are doing around Taiwan is significantly more worrisome.

The only problem with that is the newly revealed AIM-174B makes it moot. The AIM-174 can engage both missiles and bomber at long range
