I datamined the game just so I can get these songs in full quality because I couldn't find them online. So, hopefully, my hard work makes your life easier.

_____

The Old Scout's Lament

Come all of you, my brother scouts, and join me in my song

Come let us sing together, though the shadows fall so long

Of all the old frontiersmen that used to scour the plain, there are but very few of them that with us still remain

Day after day they're dropping off; they're going one by one, our clan is fast decreasing; our race is almost run

There are many of our numbers that never wore the blue, but faithfully they did their part as brave men, tried and true, they never joined the army, but had other work to do, in piloting the coming folks, to help them safely through

But brothers, we are failing; our race is almost run, the days of elk and buffalo and beaver traps are done, oh, the days of elk and buffalo! It fills my heart with pain, to know those days are past and gone, to never come again

We fought against the redskins, over valley, hill and plain, we fought him in the mountaintops and fought him down again, but those fighting days are over; the Indian yell resounds, no more along the border; peace sends for sweeter sounds

But we found great joy, our comrades, to hear and make it die, we won bright homes for gentle ones, and now, our West -- Goodbye

This hit hard on my playthrough because it started raining and Pearson was just sitting and singing in the pouring rain

Arther and Pearson singing this alone in a thunderstorm around a dwindling fire…both reminiscing on time they’ll never get back. I cried.

Pearson still keeping that old gang photo, shows how much he miss the good old days.
"And now our west... goodbye"

I started singing with Pearson and it immediately felt like one of those scenes from a western movie that makes you feel some sort of emotion that you can't describe

"Oh the days of elk and buffalo, it feels my heart with pain. To know those days are dead and gone, to never come again"....damn that hits hard.

It's really sad to see Pearson sit between two wagons in beaver hallow and sing quietly to himself a song about losing the west, which is exactly how he's feeling seeing his only friends since the navy at each other's throats

I’ve found a new love and respect for old Simon as he and Arthur shared in song.

This song is not only powerful but a great message. "Oh the days of elk and Buffalo, it fills my heart with pain, to know those days are past and gone to never come again". Relevant in 1899, relevant today

I actually sang this song to my daughter's newborn baby an my daughter's reaction was so emotional that she teared up from hearing me sing this song to my grand daughter while cradling her in my arms while i'm shedding tears from singing that song

I’m so glad you uploaded the pure song. Such a great, underrated and easy to miss moment in the game. Great to hear it without other game noises.

Major props to the uploader! Damn, every time I hear this it makes me sad. I live in the “old west” part of the country and our county keeps fantastic records, photos, and machinery from those times. Yes, the Wild West was hellish, scary, and brutal but there is something to be appreciated about the simplicity and peacefulness that makes you wish you were around back then

Over 1000 hours in game, just got Jack back. I noticed the thunderstorm everyone mentioned happened as soon as Dutch started giving a really angry speech. I thought if this is scripted, its a really nice and profound touch. Hung around through the joyful singing and eventually came to the this one. Well done Rockstar

Our race may be run but our story still remains The Van Der Linde Gang

Just came across Pearson sitting on a stump in the dark, singing this. I had to stop and get Arthur to join in. Beautifully sorrowful.
