What Is DMCA and Copyright?

DMCA and Copyright strikes are nothing new to the internet or content creation, and Youtube does have better ways to handle copyright and the striking process but Twitch isn’t the problem here, and complaining won’t help so let’s get into what even is copyright strikes and DMCA?

Well, without digging too deep into the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, it is designed to stop people from broadcasting or using other people's copyright material without the appropriate rights.

This means you need to play the music that you have the appropriate rights to. Either you’ve purchased a license like some of the platforms we will cover today, or you will use one of the hundreds of royalty-free services also talked about today. And no, Youtube premium, Spotify premium, etc are not a license to broadcast music.

The style of this video is similar to Alpha Gaming and Gaming Careers in parts. A large influence on this series has come from content creators like Wild4games and Nutty.

The biggest problem with YouTube is their copyright system is not content creator friendly. It favors the person doing the strike and makes it easy to put a claim in but not as easy to fight the claim and in fact it is super easy to make false claims and harder to combat false claims. YT has probably one of the worst systems and they need to change it.

Thank you so much! This info helped me a lot! I was always worried about this!

But is there any good explanation for why pretty much 100% are just listening on Spotify to whatever they want and just keep it out of the vod? Never heard anything about strikes. Is like every twitch partner suddenly permitted to use the music?

I‘m really looking forward to the twitch DJ program - finally my niche on twitch gets to stream without lurking in a legal gray area (if not in the blatant illegal zone)

We are here to help! We make music that is royalty free. We are independent and allow everyone to use our music in their videos.

Hope your well man! I have a question I never stream a game on YT before and I’m noticing in the preview of stream the quality goes to 480p max but says excellent connection. Does that mean my stream will be in 480p?

Do you have a video on how to split the audio? I want to listen to Spotify without having my stream hear it (it helps with my anxiety) and I cannot figure out how to do this. Every time I do it then my stream alerts no longer have sound on stream 😔

What about game ost's? I've used songs from games multiple times and I haven't had any trouble with fair usage or my stuff being copyright claimed. Would it hinder me in the future?

This wasn't what I was looking for, but it was good content anyway. I've been in fandom spaces for a couple of decades now, so I was already *very* familiar with Transformative in regards to Fair Use, but thanks for the guidelines on avoiding strikes.

i noticed your camera in your live was on the left side, im sure you have said previously you should have it on the right as twitch cover that side of the preview with viewer counts, is this not the case anymore?
