We will take a ride on the Moscow Metro from "Krasnopresnenskaya" station to "Belorusskiy Vokzal" station and walk along the entire train.
This is the Circle Line of the Moscow Metro.
On average, it takes 2 to 5 minutes between subway stations.
But there are several stations in the Moscow subway, between which the gap between train rides reaches 7 minutes.
For example, the longest run in the Moscow metro is between the stations "Krylatskoe" and "Strogino", its length is 6625 meters (more than 4 miles).
The Moscow metro is the most important transport artery of the city.
Every day the subway transports millions of Muscovites and visitors to the capital.
The first Moscow metro line opened on May 15, 1935 and ran from the station "Sokolniki" to the station "Okhotny Ryad" with branches to "Park Kultury" and "Smolenskaya".
As of 2021 the Moscow Metro consists of 14 lines with a total length of 414.7 km. (more than 257 miles).
There are 241 stations in Moscow Metro of which 5 are under reconstruction ("Smolenskaya", "Rizhskaya", "Kakhovskaya", "Varshavskaya" and partially closed "Kashirskaya").
48 stations are recognized as objects of cultural heritage and more than 40 are architectural monuments.
By 2024 the Moscow City Government plans to build another 25 stations and 58 km. (36 miles) of lines.
