I was there in 90's. Back then there was no democracy. Watch this movie called Beyond Rangoon. Epic movie and one reason why I visited the country. I literally sneaked inside, risking my life. Aung San Suu Kyi was fighting for democracy back then and finally achieved it. Amazing & beautiful country.
