I honestly had no idea how to poach salmon lol. Having to cook for myself tonight as my partner is out of town!

Easy recipe, but one that leads to overcooking and tough salmon. Put the fillets in the boiling water, turn the heat down to a simmer, and then remove 5-7 minutes later. If the salmon is firm to the touch, it's done. If you keep it in boiling water for 5 - 10 (!) minutes, it's overdone.

5-10 minutes of cook time is a huge range. that's a 100% variance. They should rather just say, cook to 120 F internal temp, approx 5 minutes.

Thank you for the video 👍🏻 I replace with smashed garlic, as I don't have onions. As well as use mixed dried herbs as I don't have dill. Added coarse black pepper and olive oil. Taste good too

Does it have to be white wine? Can I sub the wine with something else like stock or chicken broth with water instead or something else?

this is what I am going to do next time, ever since I started traveling I don't have access to ovens which I used to use to bake my salmon... so I resorted to pan frying in olive oil which I dislike as it creates too much of a mess.

As a lifelong commercial put lemon on fish of any kind! Lemon on fish means it is NOT fresh.
