Grant is such a contrast to the other 3. They all look like they’re on death’s door and then there’s Grant who looks like a distinguished old gentleman.

Great and very responsible of Ulysses S. Grant to ensure that his wife and children were financially secured before his passing. Great leaders are responsible not only in their professional lives but also in their personal lives.

In the Ulysses Grant photo, you can see a detachable shirt collar draped over the back of the chair on his right (our left). As someone who’s heavily fascinated by vintage clothing, I find it quite interesting to see. It’s rather a soft collar that he just left there or possibly drying after being laundered and starched.

Some say that the war weighed so heavily on his mind and body that it actually was a contributing factor in his death. I believe it. He had so many other health issues too. You can literally see the stress on his face and in his eyes

The one of President Grant hurts. That’s the image of a dying man who knew he was dying.
