Aggressive salespeople knocking on doors at all hours of the day have local families on high alert.

They're selling security systems and they are working with a company called Vivint.

Rob Schramm said a pushy salesman ended up on his doorstep in Anderson Township, trying to sell him a new security system.

"This guy came to our door. I was upstairs bathing the kids; it was late at night, like 8:30, 9 o'clock sometime, and I come down and he starts to sell me -- 'Well, if you're selected...' 'If we select you...' like I wouldn't purchase it. It was very strange," said Schramm.

Just down the road in Brittney Acres near Ayer Elementary School, neighbors are getting in the same sales pitch.

Company training is “Don’t take no for an answer” or “any objection can be overcome”. Typical corporate stupidity

The act of going door-to-door might be legal, but the moment the salesperson refuses to leave after being told no, it’s no longer legal. I wouldn’t trust Vivint at all. Had them for solar once in a different state. Two years later I’m still getting hounded to switch my current solar to them. Now that they are doing security systems, I’m getting harassed via calls, texts, and emails to switch to their security. I keep blocking them, but they continue to find ways to bug me.

As someone who has worked for a similar company they most likely train these people to be this aggressive and now are throwing them under the bus now that someone has complained.

These people haven’t learned how to be bluntly rude to unsolicited sales people, who show up at your door unannounced. You need to be cold and blunt with them.

I have a “no soliciting” sign at eye level on the middle of my front door. I will still get salespersons ringing my doorbell and telling me, “I saw your sign, but if you will just give me two minutes of your time, blah, blah, blah”. It’s beyond obnoxious!

Get rid of them easily by just saying “I’m sorry but I’m only renting here” or “We just sold our house” or “How fast can you install it bc I’m filing Bankruptcy in the next week or two.”

They are the thieves casing your house. Don't let them in.

We had a serial killer in our city going door to door offering services. I can't believe they never implemented a no solicitation law or a law requiring solicitors to register.

People are so programmed to be "nice" that they forget certain things. Just because someone asks you a question doesn't mean you have to answer it. Just because someone comes to your door doesn't mean you have to open it. You can just ignore the door, the phone, all the things.

"Yes, let me buy some security cameras from you to defend myself from people like you."

Used to be on your days off from work you could relax in the privacy of your home. Not anymore, you have phone scammers as early as 730am, then even with a "No Solicitors" sign, there are these mopes at your door. I finally installed a locked garden gate 10ft from my front door, which eliminates these people hanging flyers on the doorknob, a great excuse to see if the door is unlocked. I wrote to the city council suggesting a law against this. They're not interested. That gate is the best addition to my house. When the gate people asked me what kind of decorative top I wanted, I said "Pointed" the sharpest you have in case anybody decides to pole vault over the fence.

It’s the company owners that need to be held accountable

I worked as a Vivint Technician (not a salesperson, but the guy that would come in and install the items). I've never had a job that I hated more. The sales reps would lie for a living, terrible company.

As a person with agoraphobia, I literally will hide away from the door until they stop pounding and spamming the doorbell. The other day, someone started jiggling the doorknob when I wouldn’t open the door and I’m terrified of home invasions, thankfully I always lock my door.

As a seasoned door-to-door (we call it cold knocking/cold calling) salesman i have this to say. The reason i get people who sign up with my product while others fail is something called couth. Im not knocking on someones door at 7pm with a no soliciting sign and then hit them with a hardball sales pitch - its amazing when you treat people like people they want to listen to what you've got to say, and if you sell a good product people will want it, at that point its up to you to market it effectively.

These people are nice for even opening the door. I never open the door and if they want to stand there all day and I have to leave, I walk right past them and go about my day lol. I’ve had a sales person talking through my locked screen door to my toddler. I grabbed my husband and we gave that guy hell. All these creeps in the world, parents don’t need a scare like that.

Ironically Vivint sales men got aggressive with me and I had to get aggressive right back today. It’s ridiculous

I had this happen a couple of weeks ago. They were selling water coolers. I didn’t open the door, and said, “no thanks” but the two guys kept ringing my bell trying to get me to open up, I just said, “I said no thanks and at this point I’m afraid for my life, so I may have to use my gun to protect myself.” they move on quickly after that.

I’m big and buff. I had some really aggressive guy that even came in my backyard after I told him to leave. He said he was a high school soccer player.

I chased him for a mile and called the cops as I chased after him. I eventually caught him. He was closer to 30 years old and from Georgia. He was cited for peddling without a license.

I’m having this problem. So the rich live in gated communities but we have to deal with aggressive weirdos as I’m drinking my coffee on my porch. Jahovas witness ect people buy homes for peace and privacy. I also kept saying no and they kept talking and than they said “ILL BE BACK!” This should be illegal! I feel harassed by these aggressive people who stand in front of my home when I’m not home with no car on my driveway. Some even stand on the door having conversations. How do I know they won’t come back and break into my home. This should be illegal. Who makes these laws up?
