Your'e absolutely right with this. I am a techie, I like tech but things are going too far, I fear for my kids future.
The average person is oblivious to the direction we are heading in their rushed lives. Too much short-termism & instant gratification.
We don't use Facebook et al, and never have in our house, never seen the appeal of putting my life online for the world to see. Not very interesting anyhow LOL.
I think one of Amazons statements was to know what you want to buy before you do - chilling.
Had a flight recently and was horrified to find the facial recognition & finger print scanners at customs - both ways. Fortunately we had kids, so used old system on out bound, but on return to UK we were herded through until I CHALLENGED IT, "but you'll have to go to the back of the queue" said the official, so be it I said. Kids understood my stance but I fear convenience will outweigh security in the future.

The FBI actually didn't ask apple for any keys to decrypt data. They asked for Apple to develop a tailored update for a specific phone that allowed FBI to bruteforce the protection code. They are extremely different and be careful about spreading misinformation surrounding this - especially nowadays where a lot of people are in hysterics over a fairly harmless bill.

This is an alarmist video. If you read the bill, it means law enforcement has power to demand a provider (say, facebook) release information about a specific account. A warrant is required to issue this notice.

Government agencies cannot scan the internet for key words and identify groups of political opponents etc. I suspect this does not have the potential to be misused.
