How to Know Your Calling from God: What's God Purpose for My Life?

When you can answer these two questions, you will know what your calling is from God.

What do you enjoy and what does the world need? When you only enjoy something, it's not your calling from God. It's a hobby. When you help people but don't enjoy it, it's not a calling from God it's a job. Neither jobs or hobbies are bad. But God's calling on your life will be the place where your desire meets the world's need. So if you want to know your calling from God, you have to pursue your passion while seeking to benefit the world for God's glory.

I'm 16 and deep in my heart, I always desire to help children and those less fortunate people. Especially those homeles kids and people, sleeping in cold streets. My heart tightens whenever I think that there are people sleeping outside, cold and sometimes showered in rain, with nowhere to go. Just imagining to actually help those people makes me feel great. So now, I'm starting to save money for them. Then when I grow up, I can then help them. 🤗

I am currently 18 and about to go to college to become a pediatrician. I have been struggling for some time with my relationship with God. I want to build my relationship with him and hear his voice. But I’ve been struggling. I want to know my purpose that God has created for me and fix my relationship with him before it’s to late.

I feel like God is leading me to be a worship leader, to sing. I am at my happiest when I’m singing to God in front of people. I love to express myself through songs and people always come up to me after I’ve sang and tell me how they could feel the Spirit of God moving upon me, or that it gave them cold chills. I always get a standing ovation. I’m like wow, I had no clue. I was just doing what God put on my heart. I was just expressing my life and heart for God. A lot of people just get up there but they don’t experience what they sing. You have to have your heart in it. You have to not be performing for people but performing before God. It’s a calling most definitely . Thank you so much for clearing this up for me. I always thought your calling would be the opposite of what you enjoy doing but I was wrong. For many years I felt like God was wanting me to work with the elderly but I was never happy doing so. In fact I just got worse doing it. I felt an obligation to do it but I REALLY wasn’t called to do it! I never thought Gods will was for me to do what I enjoy that would benefit people. I always thought you had to be a teacher or a nurse or something similar to bring more honor to God but I was so wrong!

Worship is not always running up and down a church aisle or screaming songs to the ceiling.
True Worship is less of me, all of Him.
