1.Oogenesis starts at embryonic stage
2.Oogonia divide to form primary oocyte
3. Primary oocyte starts divison and enters into prophase 1 of meiosis and get arrested temporarily.

4. Now this primary follicles are surrounded by the layer of granulosa and they are called primary follicles
*at the stage of puberty there are 60k to 80k primary follicles are left in each ovary.

5. Now this primary oocyte is surrounded by theca cells and now known as secondary follicle

6. Secondry follicles are transformed to tertiary follicle and it is characterised by fluid filles cavity called antrum and theca layer is divided into theca externa and theca interna .
* At this stage primary follicles grows and completes it's 1st meiotic divison .

7. This meiotic division (unequal divison ) results in formation of secondry oocyte(n) and 1st polar body .
* Secondry oocyte contains nutrient rich cytoplasm of 1° Oocyte .

8. Tertiary follicle changes into GRAAFIAN FOLLICLES.

** 2°OOCYTE forms a new layer around it known as ZONA PELLUCIDA which surrounds it.

9. At last graafian follicles ruptures and releases secondry oocyte and the process of ovulation occurs
