Opinion:

Most cloud engineers want to be DevOps Engineers in the future; they would need to have a good grip on what happens under the hood: DVA+SOA.
I would recommend SOA training for any Cloud Engineer/Solutions Architect who wants to understand the intricacies of AWS.

I disagree, if you want to be a cloud engineer then having a sysops cert is very helpful, it’s shows that you understand how your development environment is configured and be able to troubleshoot issues, it’s why most engineers role are DevOps

Wow, I booked my SysOps exam and then found this video and now I'm confused. Why I chose this exam is that there are a crazy number of Architect Associate cert holders but at such a low level they will never really architect anything. But every company needs Cloud builders and Operations team and SysOps is perfect way to get into the company and then grow, .

I think when it comes to *cloud specific* careers there’s some merit to skipping the sysops cert. however as someone who is the tech director for appsec at a fortune 50 firm, I want my cloud security folks to at least have all three associate level certs. Whether it’s right or not, as security assessment folks we are expected to be at least as smart as the people building and writing applications on these platforms. A pentester that understands AWS sysops can actually tell you how to fix what you did wrong. Architecture teaches you how to understand system design to guess more quickly where you should test, and the developer cert will tell you what future-forward designs are going to look like so you can successfully attack these implementations before they become commonplace.

If you’re aiming for security focused careers, get the 3 associates then security, then the rest as interest dictates.

That said, yes, if you plan on being an architect stick to the certs most relevant to the role.

Cisco CCIE techs become architects because they know how to design, build and maintain/operate their infrastructure. All the best true architects know how to design, build and operate their infrastructure. The lightweight architects without the deep understanding of the nuts and bolts implementation are like business MBA graduates without any experience. The implication here for those with operations certs is that they won't understand systems thinking and design but having SysOps AND Cloud certs and showing a profound understanding of systems design will mitigate that assumption hirers can make.

Thanks, for your awesome insights on the AWS Sysops certification and how certifications can impact our career goals. I agree with your emphasis on the importance of using certifications as a strategic tool for personal branding and employability rather than relying on them as a form of training. This is the same approach that I take towards certifications. In the same way that you instruct in your program, I pursue certifications that align with my career goals and provide value to potential employers. Your practical advice on how to approach certifications and make informed decisions about my career development has been priceless.

I just passed SAA but I am not actively working with the cloud (so far, my boss wants to move me to a position where I can have more hands on with aws). Should I do sysops in the meantime or just spend some time making personal projects in aws, then go for sysops? Thank

Hello,
I still does not understand why a cloud engineer is so close from a cloud architect... and far from Devops.. when you looks for online jobs hire look for Cloud engineer, but with Devops tools in description.
