In this episode I’m covering the spares whose lines leapfrogged into the direct line due to the unexpected death of their elder sibling. I’ll be discussing Empress Matilda and King Stephen, Richard the Lionheart, Henry VIII, Charles I, George V, who became heirs on the deaths of William Aethling, Henry the Young King, Arthur Tudor Prince of Wales, Henry Frederick Prince of Wales, and Prince Albert Victor, respectively.

henry II, . following the house of capet custom of crowing a co- or sub king...during the lifetime of the paramount or superior king...

also thomas a beckett, the clergy who does not swear loyalty of fealty to the crown or king henry II..., ever after the clergy are required to swear loyalty to the crown & king, albeit with supremacy of and consent of the pope... its quite complicated..

henry 8th his descendant has his own challanges with the church & clergy...,
removing right to santcuary, often used by *rebels against the crown*, during the war of the roses....
