The "flashing" is just a common gesture among LE to say "Hi".
I'm a retired LEO & also drive a retired Police Tahoe; never (knock on wood lol) gotten pulled over; usually just the "Flash" or wave. (I think it also helps I have FOP plates lol). There are a lot of retired cruisers (so far I'm the only one I think with a Tahoe) driving around our town & honestly (in my opinion even prior to my retirement) most LE view the vehicles as a "proactive deterrent" to the public. What I mean by this is that if the public sees more cruisers (retired or not, LE or not) on the roads, the more it deters crime.

I love the vic! The police seem to pulled older vehicles alot for some reason. I believe it have something to do with drugs especially late at night.

I have had the flashing done to me as well, but I thought It was because he was sheriff and he thought i was city pd lol, ,I have a lot of crazy stories with my vic too. to many to share. including city pd coming out the gas station store and almost opening my car door to get in, I laughed my ass off.

I have '06 that looks almost exactly like yours, got it a little over 2 weeks ago. I live about two blocks from the police station, so I see them all the time and they (so far) barely even give me a second glance, and that's with really dark tint.

In sacramento cali the few times I've been stopped by cops they always have said why are you driving a cop car. And I've answered back saying if I was driving a cop car you wouldn't have pulled me over.

I almost bought a black one just like this. It was a 2010 p71. Spotlights push bar everything. It was beautiful no rust brand new tires etc. But it had some kind of transmission problem and the motor was burning oil so I passed on it. As I was deciding wether or not to buy it I was just thinking in my mind this thing is gonna make me a magnet if I get it.

I owned one, and through my experience I got pulled over several times. They once used the excuse that it matched one of their unmarked cars that was stolen (which to me was BS), and as far as them waiving or asking questions about the car I could probably say COPS could give two shits about these cars, they just prefer to mess with you. COPS, like any job would like to stay away from the things that would remind them of their job while they're off duty.

I've found long as your car doesn't look to much like a active squad car they don't mind. Just depends how you drive and how your car appears.
Far as getting pulled over in the olds they have a history with older drunks and stoner's.
I plan on tinting mine but only 50% not the 5% sense that draws more attention from cops on any car

I mean 99.9% of the time the cops really don’t care if you drive police vehicle, As long as you aren’t impersonating them they don’t care.

Hey this is Steve from Chesapeake Virginia mine is going to have tint on it to hope they don’t tI had a undercover tourist an 06 and they didn’t say too much about that now the INNER stepped her that I’m getting I’m getting windows black and they shouldn’t say anything I don’t think but I’m not going to take the tent off I have a new 2018 Mazda three are used to always have Volkswagens I had the diesel golf but now I’m getting the LTD interceptor for a second car just take my big dogs in but I hope they won’t say too much about my tent
