I believe the way that they are getting more white sand has been explained in the white sand ars arcanum in arcanum unbounded; The properties of the sand are do to a microbe on it’s surface, so presumably they’re using regular sand, then growing more of that microbe on it.

Didn’t the shard of preservation fight against being held by Kelsier? Afaik him letting go of the power was more like unclenching your fists after struggling to lift something enormous.

Isn't Iyatil from Silverlight not Scadrial? Perhaps there's Malwish ancestry there, but I'm pretty sure it is specifically mentioned the Lost Metal that she and her brother were from Silverlight, not Southern Scadrial.
