How to Make a TUFTED Bed HEADBOARD | Diamond Tufting Headboard DIY Tutorial

This tutorial will show you how to make a tufted headboard from a melamine board, a polyurethane upholstery foam (or mattress), a type of faux leather (imitation) fabric, rope, buttons, glue and a stapler.

In this video, the carpenter has a button covering press, but you can buy them ready-made. He also has a compressor with a pneumatic stapler but you can just as easily use a manual stapler!

It is necessary to make a plan according to the height and width of your bed as well as the desired design, then arm yourself with patience and organization and voila! A homemade headboard, to your liking, to the exact measurements of your bed and at a much more affordable price.

The headboard is a piece of furniture that attaches to the head of a bed. Historically, they served to isolate sleepers from drafts and cold in less insulated buildings, and thus were made of wood, which is less thermally conductive than stone or brick. Constructed to create space from the wall (via thicker end pillars) they allowed falling colder air to sink to the floor rather than onto the bed.

They may include storage space for books and personal items, and conveniences such as lights and telephone. Those of hospital beds may incorporate critical care functions.

A headboard may often be complemented by a footboard for aesthetic balance.
