Maybe it's because I have personal knowledge, a brother-in-law is a k-9 officer here in a California city, and these dogs are not only expensive, but they save the lives of officers on a regular basis, going places and doing things more efficiently than a human officer. Our in law is on his second dog, his retired dog still lives with the family and is spoiled rotten by him and his three kids daily. The time and dedication to his dogs training and professional success is impressive, and when he's called in with his k-9, all officers are grateful for their k-9 fellow officers. I'm so glad that the jury sees the merit of the charges, and voted accordingly.
