Actually, when we say "bismillah" we are saying "in the name of ALLAH", we accomplish 3 purpose: 1. we are taking the permission of ALLAH (SWT) to do this act (i.e. eat, drink etc).
2. we are saying to the Angels that record our deeds that we are doing this deed as part of our worship to ALLAH.
3. we are thanking ALLAH (SWT) with all HIS characteristics by which HE made it possible for us to do this deed, each of which is described in HIS name, not all of which are known by men.

I saw a scientific video here on YouTube that tells us what happens to water if you say Bismillah over it. Also a Muslim should say Bismillah before beginning of any action. Before entering the house, before driving a car, before cooking food, etc..

Edit: I’m not sure of “any action”. Allah knows best.

Don't forget, As moslem we obligated to read surah al fatehah 17 times (total amount of 17 raka'at shalat one day ) daily

and inside alfatehah there word arrahman arrahim means *compassion* mentioned 2 times

Therefor we moslem saying word *COMPASSION* 17x2 =34 times/daily (minimum)
