In 2017, Bhekisisa Mail & Guardian Centre for Health Journalism created South Africa’s first online, searchable map of free, legal abortion clinics by calling 246 health facilities nationwide. In South Africa, a lack of information on where to get a safe, legal abortion often stands between people and excessing their right to termination of pregnancy services.

But abortion services are also very fragile, often depending on a single trained nurse or doctor. When that healthcare worker leaves, services often crumble - public health graduate and #SizaMap researcher Susan Saburi explains what we found in the rural province of Limpopo.
