In 2017, the Bhekisisa Mail & Guardian Centre for Health Journalism created South Africa’s first online, searchable map of free, legal abortion clinics by calling 246 health facilities nationwide. In South Africa, a lack of information on where to get a safe, legal abortion often stands between people and excessing their right to termination of pregnancy services.
