Solving Fraction Word Problems - Fraction Division

Dean has a piece of wood that is 3/4 of a foot in length. He needs to cut pieces that are 1/16 of a foot long. How many pieces can Dean cut?

Or you can cancel like this:
3/4 x 16/1 cancel 4 and 16 since 16 is divisible in 4. To cancel you need to divide 4 and 16, so the answer is 4. Put a slash on 16 and write 4 beside it and since 4 divided by 4 is one you do the same but you right 1 instead of 4 and when canceling you can't cancel numbers beside each other or in a same fraction, you can only cancel fractions when it is in an "x" like 3/4 x 16/1, 4 and 16 isn't beside or above each other.

on marking your 1/16, you marked 4 for the first 1/4, then you marked only three for all the other 1/4 increments. am I wrong ?
