2019 was my rock bottom. My bday is on Dec 29. I went to a 4 month inpatient rehab on 9/11/19 then did sober living for 6 mos then got my own place. But.. I turned 40 in rehab and I had never felt so low and so good at the same time. I felt great cuz I was serious for the first time ever. But felt like such a loser cuz i was literally 40 and in rehab. But someone hit me the reality that most of my fellow addicts didnt get the chance to be 40. 😢 It wasn't new to be away from family on the holidays, that had happened for a few years already. But that hit me so hard. Still clean today.

I was in a drug dorm (in jail) one year for New Years. We asked if we could stay up, (lock down was usually at 11.) One of the CO'S came in with streamers and some decorations, just from the dollar store, and let us decorate. She came back up a few minutes before the ball dropped with apple juices for all of us to cheers together. She said "New Year, New You. I don't ever want to see any of yall in here on New Year's again. There was only 10 of us in the program, and you could hear the rest of the jail banging on their cells, but I know I was incredibly grateful, and all of us were. It definitely gave us all hope. And made us look at the CO'S differently 🥰

I was in a Native American operated treatment last New Year’s Eve. They not only let us stay up they let 2 of the patients buy a ton of fireworks and we all got soda and cake while we waited for midnight and the fireworks were set off. It was very nice.

I was in rehab for New Year’s Eve 9 years ago and we still had to be in our rooms by 11. At midnight the other ladies and I in our hall did open our doors and say Happy New Year to each other real quick. We asked permission first and they said it was ok as long as that was all we did. Happy New Year to Tina and to everyone out there 🎉 We do recover ❤

It's really triggering to watch the ball drop for a lot of people trying to get rid of old use patterns. It's hard though, because so many people in rehab really are giving up everything they've ever known.

I spent my 28th birthday in rehab and my 14th wedding anniversary as well. Unfortunately rehab did not help me but MAT did! February 8th 2025 will be 4 years since I’ve been in recovery

I totally get having a program, and sticking to it, but like……. Y’all are adults, making you have a bedtime is wild. Not everyone has the same sleep patterns, and like…… I don’t know. I personally don’t care about holidays, but, if you do, one night staying up watching the ball drop, and then going to bed isn’t going to hurt. It would be a reward for showing you are trying to get yourself clean, and a way to show they trust you to make good decisions

Yeah spending Christmas in work release sucked. I was in rehab during early spring...seeing the world transforming and getting warmer made it a lot easier.

The rehab I went to took us to a sober New Year’s Eve party downtown and we stayed out until 2. We’d also go to meetings that ended at midnight
