How to connect Makita guide rails

How to connect two Makita guide rails with the guide rail connector kit.

I bought a set from Bayer which is compatible with makita, and it comes with two sets of connectors. On the bayer tracks whose design is same as makita I use one under and one on the top face . The top is not exactly above bottom track and so it makes it two guiding lines. Acting as a bigger guiding line . Therefore it makes the tracks perfectly in line . Hope that makes sense, and maybe worth a try on the makita track.

No, they are not ready to use - you still have to ensure that the two rails are perfectly in line or it is worse than a waste of time. What you have shown should be perfectly obvious to anyone allowed near a track saw, After joining the two rails you must still check them with a good straightedge (I use a spare rail) along the guide channel, not the splinter guard. Sorry to criticise but this is the most important part of the procedure. Just the humble opinion of a 45years plus pro carpenter and joiner.

I have seen many comments on other vids, that it is recommended to leave a little gap in between the two rail guides.

Thanks for the video. I just purchased the track saw and rails but wondered about the first cut to the splinter guard.
Do you need to support it or just glide the saw through it with no wood underneath?
Seems there is very little rubber to cut.

So I have had the Makita track saw and rails for a while now. Great saw. But what is the hole for in the rail connector shim? If I put the shim between the "nubs" on the longer connector then a setscrew goes through the hole and into the aluminum track. That would cause a dimple in the inside of the connector track. So why the hole?
