How To INSERT and FORMAT SD Memory Card | GoPro Hero 11, 10 & 9

In this tutorial, I'll show you how to insert and format the GoPro sd card in the Hero 10. Formatting the card will clear (delete) all of the videos and photos to give you space for new footage.

Have never needed to do it with a gopro card but I have been able to recover files from a formatted memory card used in both point and shoot and DSLRs. Was software I downloaded online. Key is to not take any new pictures or video on formatted card. Once you start doing that you do change what is stored on the card - formatting apparently just tells the camera that the card is available for new storage (or so I have read).

My GoPro 10 seems to save videos and photos automatically to cloud, rather than app. Worried if I format (delete memory card) I will loose them all. Is this the case?

Have the same card BUT can only shoot 1 minute b4 it stops & says the card is slow & wont allow anymore shooting, it works only when formating for about a minute, I tried a 190/90 card & it works w/out stopping so the 170/90 is too slow, its the read speed higher number that it needs to be, my new card just came its a 200/140 works good also, just a heads up if u get this message

Quick question.. I’m receiving that same memory card today in the mail, should I forgot the memory card on my Mac before I use it in the GoPro? Or format in the GoPro? Or no format needed for the new card?

Only reason I ask is because I bought a brand new hero 9 and have used 4 lower spec cards, all showed error messages for the card.. they all don’t work because they’re all too slow for the camera.. just wondering if formatting a new card is needed to make sure I don’t get memory card error messages on the camera
