This was a mistake - even though Putin knew Ukraine would not join NATO, he attacked anyway. Or that's precisely why he attacked - because he knew the West was backing away from his threats.

It's like saying "there's no way" Poland would join the Allies in World War II. It's not only possible, but necessary - if you want to stop World War III. After the Russian invasion, it became clear that Ukraine needs NATO and NATO needs Ukraine.

Besides, Poland, the Czechia and Slovenia are proposing a peacekeeping mission, not an intervention.

Ukraine 🇺🇦 asked/applied to join NATO 14 years ago with a promise that they would be part of the alliance. What a joke. Yet, the Balkan countries got into NATO in 10 years. What bs.
