Here’s my idea of that scenario:

Stalin and Hitler’s ideologies were fundamentally opposed. If they ever did form an alliance, it’d be as meaningful as the paper it was written on. Rather than Hitler betraying Stalin and breaking the Non Aggression Pact, Stalin would have waited for the Germans to waste their strength trying to land in Britain without air superiority or even full control of the Channel, then he would have invaded Hitler. Your post war looks something like this:.
- A long grueling war breaks out on the Eastern front only with the Soviets as the aggressors. Germany is exhausted from failed attacks against Britain and the Soviet Union gets no American help in this timeline.
- FDR long viewed Hitler as the main enemy, even after Pearl Harbor. Rather than dropping the A-Bomb on Japan, they are dropped on Germany. In concert with a successful landing in France, Germany is forced to sue for peace so they can focus on beating the Soviet Union. The Allies, accept, preferring to let the Fascist and Communist sides of the war to weaken each other than trying to fight both at the same time.
- By war’s end, much more of Europe is communist than in our timeline. Only France, Portugal and Britain remain as democracies. Japan is either defeated a year later than in our timeline by newly developed A-Bombs or the US is forced to actually invade the Japanese archipelago, with truly horrific casualties.

you have to remember, the Soviets were starving, with dwindling supplies, the US sent extreme amounts of goods, I could recommend a documentary that talks all about how US manufacturing kind of saved the war effort

July 1940: Germany wants the USSR to join the axis
August 1940: The Soviet Union starts being evil showing Germany they are evil aswell
September 1940: The USSR offers to join the axis
October 1940: Germany doesn't respond to the offer because they are busy in Africa
November 1940: The USSR stops doing evil stuff
December 1940: Germany plans to invade the USSR
January 1941: The USSR gives up in joining the axis

February 1941 - May 1941 - The USSR dosent look like it is joining the axis, and the USSR starts bonding with the United States and the United Kingdom
June 1941: Germany dosent even know the USSR offered to join the axis and thinks they didnt want to so Germany launches an full on scale invasion of the USSR
July 1941: The USSR is very confused on why Germany invaded them
August 1941 - December 1941 - The United States starts to get furious at the axis and on December 1941 the United States offically joins the war because Japan invades the USA and Germany with the USSR in Europe because the USSR and the USA were good friends

If Soviet Union join axis it would be hard for USA to beat them but you have to remember something in ww2 the USA was the only country in the world to have nukes so if it came down to it the USA will use nukes on all of them including Germany Italy and Soviet Union

if the Soviet Union had joined the Axis, they and the Germans might have been able to conquer other countries first, such as those in the Middle East, Oceania, and Africa, before turning their attention to the United States. Others say that the United States might not have been able to defend Europe against the Soviets and Germans at the time, but that they would have been able to in the future with their nuclear weapons and manpower.
