I just ran across this video today, it was my first Shug video 2years ago. I've seen most and rewatched multiple since. Thanks for sharing, the wisdom you've shared has saved me headaches, stress, and money countless times.

I really wish I would have been into YouTube during this time period 😂😂😂 I'm enjoying the heck out of these older videos. Laughing while learning is good for my mind. Much appreciated!!

Yes please do. I'd really like to see what your impressions of it are after having it out on the trail.

Gossamer gear is a great company. Glen shared his G4 design with the DIY world so that they could build it themselves. I built it from a $42.00 Quest Outfitters kit and love it. Easy to make, 4400 cubic in, and light weight 11oz. Time will tell how it holds up. Keep up the great vids. I always enjoy.

I’ve got both the old Mariposa plus and the new much improved Mariposa. I thought the old model was the perfect pack for me, now I think the new model is! I like both and still use both.

The stays are needed, especially if you plan on carrying close to it’s max weight. They keep the weight off the shoulders. My new pack has load lifters and again, as the pack weight gets close to max, they are of great value. Great evaluation, thank you!

Thanks Shug..I recently got a GoLite Jam70 to replace my Kelty RedCloud for backpacking. I'm loving the drop in weight. My last overnight trip the scouts I was able to hit the trail at 22 pounds with full food, fuel and water....what a difference!! Plus I got to fall asleep floating in a warm downy cloud. One of the ground dwelling leaders said he slept like in a trunk where a magician was placing knives.."on my side I could curl around the rock and keep my head just on the edge of the root"

Been looking at the Gorilla for a while, but the Ohm may give it a run for my money. Thanks for the great and detailed overview of both.

I almost purchased those packs. but I didn't. I purchased another one however it was a difficult decision I would not want to go through again. Having to choose between two similar packs would institutionalize me.

Thanks! I bought a GG Mariposa 2-3 yrs ago and only took it out a couple of times cause I just can't get comfortable with it carrying bout 20 lbs. I'm only 5'4" and like to keep it light if possible. GG recently updated Mariposa as they did the Gorilla. The new Mariposa plus has load lifters and not as much mesh, more pockets and features! I'm still looking for a lightweight pack that irests well with the weight nice on my hips. I'll look forward to your trip report with the Gorilla!

Mine is normally about 10-12 pounds fully loaded. This is for weekend-length trips, which is about all I seem to be able to manage these days.

The Amazon fairy delivered my Ohm 2.0 today. I packed it out and slapped 'er on. Like those big side pockets. The mesh pocket is like a black hole. Just swallows whatever you toss in. Very comfy on the hip and shoulders. Really well thought out system. I'm going on a trail hike around the hood tomorrow and give it a go with all my gear.
