the rpms on my Hyundai Elantra sometimes surge and try to make the car pull forward Please Help

Ive looked into this issue and another owner determined the problem to be a transmission position sensor not dictating the tyranny to downshift into neutral upon stopping, so the engine is maintaining engagement and attempting to launch the vehicle, surging it under load. If i knew where I saw it I'd provide the link. Gluck.

Try cleaning the carbon build up on the throttle body flap and change spark plugs

Try checking the idle speed control actuator or the variable valve timing (vvt) also check for vacuum leaks

Try clean throttle body first.and checked fuel filter. And if still not work try 4 all new ignition coil

I bought my 2016 Hyundai Accent brand new same year, and it's been doing same thing. Once I stop at the traffic while the AC is on, it jerks and the stops.

Having the exact same issue with my 2016 Elantra. I have 172000 miles. Changed my plugs at 120000 miles (iridium) so that shouldn't be it. It started more recently for me.

Hey I own a 2013 Hyundai Elantra, and while I was driving home, a felt a quick jerk, and and no engine light or any others came on.... I noticed that my RPM's no longer worked from this point.... and each time I stopped @ a light.. it took me about 15 seconds to get going... I just wanted to make it home.. so I kept going... I made it home barely.. and later it started up fine? Could it just need a tune up? or possibly a bigger issue? Im too nervous to attempt to keep driving it.. until the issue is resolved? Any feedback would be much appreciated :-)

Wow my 2015 Hyundai Elantra is doing the same thing, took it to dealership and they said it was the spark plugs, got them changed and it still did the same thing afterwards.I took it back and after spending almost 500, I refuse to give the dealership anymore money.

I change the 4 ignition coil of my hyundai elantra 2013 and it fix that problem.

I've got the same thing going on with mine I just brought mine from a corporation to dealership and it I figured it was me but then I just happened to turn on your station and it's doing the same exact thing and I called the dealership because I just bought it yesterday and I'm going to have to explain that to them they'll have to replace your new car

I had the same issue. Also got worse with all the lights on, and the hi beam.

I have same problem 2016 accent, mechanic said it's normal in accent .so it's not ?

I have a 2012 Hyundai Elantra my Tachometer stops working at times and me Check Engine light is on now anyone no the problem, it started after I got gas and sometimes it cuts off at the light.

My 2010 Tucson will go into neutral and rev while i'm driving sometimes. Very strange

My wife's has been idling down when stopping, worse during hotter weather since we got it. Now it will randomly die at stops. Sucks in traffic
