I’ve had my Hitachi for 7 years. The original battery still holds a charge and the machine has not let me down. If a high-end DeWalt is faster, that’s very nice. But speed isn’t everything unless you’re on a production line. If I have drilled 1000 holes and driven 700 screws over the past 7 years and I could have saved one second each time, I would have saved 2.8 minutes per year. That’s about 15 seconds per month. Oh, sorry. You say I could have saved two seconds per use with the yellow product? Then it’s half a minute per month! Just think what I could have done with the time.

Hold on, did you seriously just compare a top end brushless DeWalt against the entry level brushed Hitachi?! Stupid much? All this video shows is how inept CR has become at doing what they're supposed to be known for.

Next week, CR compares the Camaro SS and Ford Tempo!

Hitachi is way better than dewalt, you got to be working for them

Compare a HITACHI with same price and voltage as your DeWalt. Then it will be which is clearly better.

Well a brushless new model DeWalt with 2.0 ah Batts vs.
At least few year old model brushed Hitachi with 1.3 ah Batts
That's a fair review

It should’ve been noted that it’s ill advised to use a drill to drive in screws, especially heavy lag screws into thick wood.
It’s a common cause of sprained wrists. Use an impact driver for those tasks. 😉

I switch from deWalt to Makita tools and they are a step above.

I have this Hitachi drill for about 1 year. I am not using alot, but to be honest for this money I could buy a bit better drill with more stuffs like battery indicator, metal head, but inside of this drill everything is made of steel and outside it is nice quality plastic. Battery lasts long, charging speed is ok. Overall I think this Hitachi drill will last much longer than other cheaper brands.

I used to be a plumber by trade, for years we used dewalt exclusively. Then we started using rigid, porter cable, bosch and others, they could not take the abuse of rain, mud and sand from crawl spaces. Now days its hard to find a dewalt in the field, Milwaukee seems to be the drill of choice, not the big box store version either, the supply house versions. As for makita, you see them moslty with the electricians.

when i ought my brushed hitatchi drill i did so because it had the highest torque spec compared to other drills. here you are comparing two different age and designs. not a good comparison

If I was hitachi I would sue you for false advertisement

They compared two completely different drills with two drastically different price points. What kind of consumer report is this? It's misleading.

Congrats you just showed that a shitty 80 dollar hitachi drill can pull its weight with a higher end dewalt drill lol.

When it comes to tools, CR is the last place I would do to. There are a lot better tool reviewers out there.
