“It's very weird to watch the Ukrainians invade Russia, and there is no popular kickback.”

Ordinary people would be “on the streets kicking the Russians out” if they invaded Britain, says author of Killer in the Kremlin John Sweeney.

Remember Feb 24, 2022? Ukrainian grandmothers are researching how to make Molotov cocktails, and farmers were building anti tank fortifications….now here in Russia with Ukrainians invading? Welcome! We Russians might actually live better!

Vlad Vexler said it best - Russians view their own government as occupiers, so Ukraine, or France for that matter are no different.

Dictatorship only survive if the people let them. Fear is the biggest enemy of humans.

Russians to Ukraine "save us from Putin, he's destroying our country"

Putin was crying in his study in the Kremlin last night looking at a portrait of Stalin when the ghost of the dictator appeared and asked him, "What's wrong?" Putin wailed, "Oh Generalissimo Stalin, the Nazis have invaded Kursk and our Russian soldiers can't stop them advancing and are surrendering en masse." Stalin thundered, "You fool! Just follow my historical example: Send your elite Ukrainian units into Kursk to stop the Germans and beg the British and Americans for arms and equipment!"

the thing about repressing and oppressing your civil society is that when the country is invaded, there is no popular reaction. a nation used to bow its head and rationalize fatalism will easily adapt to a newcomer, just it happened with the Mongol invasion of Russia.

He is right, it is weird that they don't care that the Ukrainians are on their land.

The Russian people and Russian soldiers realize that they have more to fear from their own government than from the Ukrainians. I think that the more thoughtful Russians realize that it isn't Kiev's desire to be a long-term occupying or controlling force within Russia, Kiev mainly wanting a secure and stable border with Russia that both countries can live with.

I have seen many videos showing that Russian citizens and soldiers looting Russian stores and homes in Kursk region. I am Russian (I was borne in the Braynsk oblast, it's next to Kursk oblast). So I understand what they say on the videos when I see them. And I understand why local Russian loot: it's psyche, and its total deprivation the Putinism has got us to -- the wealthy were able to run East on their automobiles, while regular people could not because the Russian state did not thing to evacuate the regular people, and the regular people live mostly below the poverty line in Russia. So now they use this chance to compensate.

How does it feel, Vlad? Your country invaded, how does it feel? Outrageous? Unacceptable? Traumatic? Take the time you need.

The Ukranians were there to kick the Russians out with Molotov cocktails and kalasjnikovs. Nothing like that in Russia.

This part of Kursk was once part of Ukraine. Hence the locals mostly aren't hysterical

They know it isnt Ukraines style to level everything in their path. Notice how Ukraine took over Kursk without levelling the towns? That will come with Russia coming to defend itself though, Russia will level its own towns (then blame ukraine for doing it)

Indeed strange Russia is still in the international banking system.

There were Ukrainian people on the Streets when russia invaded trying to kick them out. The people of Kursk know they don't need to resist the Ukrainian Army. A lot of them are Ukrainian and IMO, they know the difference.
