"not one for the history books" - I love the opening because it sets up (alludes to) the ending of the book, and a theme of Evans's novel. How I hope English teachers everywhere will watch, be inspired, and immerse themselves in this series - then invite students of their own to respond with similar creativity to any relevant writing their students read.
