Today I'm taking the 2017 Harley Davidson Sportster Iron 883 out for a wheelie sesh. I'm going to share my thoughts on whether the Sportster or Dyna is better for getting started for the Harley Wheelies. Spoiler alert: it really depends on the individual.

I would think a Sporty would be easier to wheelie than a Dyna because of the shorter wheel base and a lighter bike overall.

great take on the Harley wheelie game. I been working on my 18 fat bob and man it is a beast and does NOT like to come up... sort of beating the bike up because of my level... just really hard to get consistent pull and lift. love the ride of it though. I like the 1200 platform for a wheelie bike though...
tks

My 05 XL883L surprised me with a power wheelie from 2nd to 3rd. They definitely have enough power to get the front end up!

The sportster is definitely easier to get up then a Dyna… and I’m on an 883…. LOL

When you compared it to a grom, that explains why i want a 1275 883 now, lol

Came two years too late.. That´s a great style of informative wheeleria. 👌 Did ever heard of somebody wheeling an old ´92Virago 535? No that´s not a joke. It´s my first and currently only bike. Over here in europe harleys seem to me way to expensiv 😅 but I´m super curious about this Chopper/cruiser stunting you guys in the US do!🙏 Ride on!

I got a 2016 roadster and a 2010 dyna wide. I was going to sell me roadster, but I want to learn how to do wheelies. I think I am going to keep them both now. Thanks for the advice.

We gotta get a bagger in the line up, what do you think?

Yes the sporster is about 90 pounds lighter than the dyna so easier to handle.

awesome that advise helped alot as my sportster is pretty much the same as i ve been weighing it up fxr or fxdx or continuing to do up my sportster to a s&s

I have a fxdx with defender style bags and tsport faring and a set up sporty. As well as a mini z125. And the sporty is def closer to the mini. And I've always said the sporty for wheelies and shjt but now I'm starting to feel like the dyna is better. The bigger bikes def do burnouts easier.

Shorter, lighter, fork parts readily available. No sump mods needed! Far less expensive to buy and build. 883 can be a better option over 1200, lower geared and often found with super low miles cheap! The 1200 costs more and does not have much more power. 883 with a performance big bore kit is the way to go.

Nah a bagger is the easiest to wheelie

Nothing is easier to wheelie than a sporty. Dynas and baggers are the same, to me (bags removed and short exhaust).

Long time no see bro. Funny I was thinking of grabbing a cheap sportster to beat on and practice those Harvey willies. I was out in Arizona said what's up to kruise's. Haven't really been making any videos for my channel just been preparing for the collapse.
