We are going carry on only for this 7 day Caribbean cruise onboard Royal Caribbean's Harmony of the Seas. We love packing carry on only for a cruise, but it can be challenging at times. I always want to take everything. The way I deal with this is I get everything out, and then arrange it into stacks to see how it will fit into the carry on luggage. This gives me a target to shoot for, and I can then begin a process of elimination. A good thing about packing for a Caribbean cruise this time of year is the weather is typically warm. I won't have to deal with lots of bulky clothes like I would on an Alaska cruise. We don't go over every item of clothing like we have in some other cruise packing videos, but you will get a good sense of what we are taking. I pack half of my clothes in my suitcase and half of them in my friends and vice versa in case one of them goes missing we will both have clothes to wear. We use full suitcases and always pack too much. But each trip we get better at packing 😀

I have never done carry on only and I don’t plan too. One thing I may do on my next cruise is pack my carry on & personal item as if I’m doing carryon only. Then pack anything else I think I need in my checked bag. In September 2020 I’m going on a smaller Royal Caribbean ship, Serenade of the Seas to Hawaii. It’s a 11 night cruise from Vancouver BC and visiting 5 ports in Hawaii, then fly home.

We go on Royal Caribbean with a group so we get a magnetic dry erase board for the out side of the door to leave messages for or to someone on their board. It is great for communicating. Also if you are taking a nap, you can leave that on the board and what time you are getting up so you won’t be disturbed.

I center my wardrobe towards black, just 1 or 2 pink or gray tops, and only 4 pair of shoes, one which I wear on boarding day. Easy peasy...

I love these packing videos!! I am a notorious over packer and learning to shrink down to carry on only.
I’ve done pretty well on my last two domestic flights (non cruise) with my carry on and Mia Tui Jenny bag.
Next summer we are going to Europe for at least 2 weeks, including 7 night Mediterranean Cruise on Explorer of the Seas. We’ll spend 3-4 days in Venice, 4 days in Rome before cruising to Greece and Naples.
I’m super nervous about being able to pack everything I need in just carry on but so determined to make it work.
The shoes are usually my tipping point. I hate not feeling prepared with a variety of shoes for so much walking, formal nights ect.. I can’t wait to see your shoe recommendations and more packing tips!

I’ve been on RC to Bermuda and a couple Carnival cruises to the Caribbean. My favorite cruise packing must-have is a plug in air freshener for our room! A nice tropical scent is great and then when we use it at home we’re reminded of vacation 😀

I think you meant at the 5:58 mark of your vid is not a "carry on" but your "personal item", which would go under the seat in front of you. "Carry on" will be the bag that would be stored in the over head bin/compartment.

I’ve been on royal Caribbean twice! I’ve been on harmony and freedom. On harmony I went to St. Kitts, Nassau Bahamas and St. Thomas. On freedom I went to Jamaica, Haiti, and Dominican Republic! One packing tip that we found useful was we always brought a small grocery bag to put our dirty underwear and socks in. All of the clothes we usually washed the day we got off the ship in the hotel we stayed at. So all we had to do was put our clothes away when we got home.

My packing tip is using the over the door shoe organizer for everything!

I have been on RCCL Liberty of the Seas - Western Caribbean out of Galveston. Looking forward to sailing on the Symphony of the Seas out of Miami in February 2020. Packing tip: use the space created by the telescoping handles for shoes, or packing "tubes". (I have Eagle Creek packing cubes called Tube Cubes that are great for undies, bras & socks.) These "cubes" or my shoes fit perfectly in those channels & there's no wasted space.

If you want to add back magnets, try the really small neodymium cubes/discs. Amazon carries some, and they're super strong relative to their size.
