Packt recently sent me a review copy of their new machine learning book, Machine Learning with PyTorch and Scikit-Learn, by Sebastian Raschka, Yuxi (Hayden) Liu, and Vahid Mirjalili.

It's a pretty amazing blend of solid theory and practical applications, and I'm really enjoying it.

Quick note: the e-book that I'm showing is in color, while the print book is black and white. The charts are still readable, though, and most color shading is still clear.

Thank you for this review! It’s just what I needed. Have been searching for a while on a good primer on ML for a beginner.

I just want to note that any worthy machine learning, statistical learning, or predictive modelling lecturer will emphasis the issues with overfitting. Furthermore, you will cover overfitting mitigation efforts such as k-fold cross validation, which is uses to gauge whether or not a model performs well on training data and then they emphasize the importance of a test set to see if your learned model can generalize well onto unseen data.

Thank you Dave for review. I would be interrested in seeing some videos if you have a real life problem where ML is applicable seeing some piece of code of how to solve that problem. I am in early stages of learning Python.
