Canon Camera Names Explained (Late 2019)

Choosing your first camera is already confusing enough, but Camera manufacturers always seem to name their cameras like some math equations and they make no sense at all. So here's an asian guy to the rescue...

This was a great summary of Canon's offerings. I'd frankly love to see one of these done for each of the major camera brands. I'm pretty familiar at this point with Sony and Fuji's offerings, which probably speaks to more effective marketing on their part, but Nikon has similarly cryptic numeric sequences for their FF/crop lines.

When I switched to Canon two and a half years ago from Pentax I spent days and days trying to figure out what bodies to go with, they offer so many options it can be confusing. This is a pretty good breakdown of the current lineup. I ended up with the 5dsr and 1dx2 for wildlife shooting and think they are the perfect pair for it. 50mp for the high resolution shots a 14fps for the fast action times.
