Warco WM180 Lathe Carriage Stop Mod - Using the Sherline Mill

A commercially made carriage stop that I purchased for my Warco WM180 lathe had always required a shim to clamp properly. Here I use the Sherline mill to make a new bottom clamp.

I have seen other ones with a guide pin next to the clampling screw. This holds the clamping block more square to the lathe bed. There is room for this to be done, only a suggestion.

Hello Alan,
That Sherline is a wonderfull mill, and its always great to do something you've been meaning to get round to, always think, why didn't I do this sooner! :-),
Thanks for your message, been a bit of illness in the family and some major house maintenance, taken up all my time, but all is well now, ish, so hopefully be back in the workshop soon,
Stay safe mate,
All the best,

It's always satisfying using tools to improve tools. Nicely done. Cheers.

Hi Alan,
Good video and upgrade to the lathe... I would be interesting in watching how you approach the mini jacks for the Sherline as I could make a similar things for the Unimat when it's in the milling mode.
Have a good weekend.

You're making me very jealous Alan. That little mill did a cracking job. I need to get moving on a mill purchase. The modification looks excellent. Was that home cast ally ? Cheers Rob
