9. Masters of Knowledge - Polymath | The Freestyle Life

Our aim is to become polymaths - masters of many knowledge areas, one day, so we explain the different types of knowledge we aim to acquire.We discuss the difference between a monomath, a specialist and a polymath, a generalist.

We aim to acquire knowledge in the following intelligence categories:
Interpersonal
Kinesthetic
naturalistic
Logical

I'm definitely a polymath. I had always thought there was something wrong with me for not being able to explosively focus on one subject. But the truth is that I am highly fascinated by all of it. Science, math, history, language, art, exercise and health.

I am so happy I finally learned the term polymath!! For so long I've felt like I didn't fit in because I just can't settle with learning one thing and only doing one thing with my life - and that is what everyone else seems to do around me. However, I have to keep growing and stretching my mind - I love to learn!! I've been a barista, a chef, a shoe saleswoman, a para-professional, a musician, an insurance rep, a physical therapist assistant, and at the age of 30 going on 31 I am aiming to go to med school by majoring in biochemistry and minoring in history. You really can master anything - at any age - I think the key is to always follow your heart, have passion in all you do, take the leaps necessary to go after your dreams and desires, and to understand that you may have to make sacrifices of time and energy to succeed at what you want.

I am definitely more an polymath than a monomath. I just finished reading a book written by Stephen Hawking, and it was called "My brief history". It was a good read! I am interested in way too many things, and i'm currently studying and reading various different philosophers, inventors, engineers, physicists like for example; Leonardo da Vinci, Voltaire, Marilyn vos Savant, Marie Curie, René Descartes, Howard Gardner, Sun Tzu, Niccolo Machiavelli, Michio Kaku, Albert Einstein, Charles Darwin, Ivan Turgenev, Friedrich Nietzsche, Arthur Schopenhauer, Alan Turing, Chuangtse, Marcus Aurelius, Aristotle, Thomas Aquinas, Immanuel Kant, Thomas Hobbes, Jean-Paul Satre, Ludwig Wiggestein, Sören Kierkegaard, Diogenes the Cynic etc.

I realised Polymathy ran in the family, when my great grandfather had 500 books he read on 5 different subjects, my father is a mechanic and can fix almost everything around the house, as well as a sewing master, and now curiosity naturally hit me, what a great feeling.

This is Excellent, I have been striving to attain better mastery of many subjects but had never encountered the idea of Polymathy. I will now be integrating this into my idea sets and will focus even more on getting some publishing in a diverse range of fields.

not sure if I could be considered a polymath but I feel as if i'm becoming one there many things I love like mechanics, music, photography, drawing and so much more... day by day I tend to teach myself these things.

Just learned about the polymath term but I am an INTJ and I guess a polymath as well. My careers and areas of expertise have included (not not limited to)...classical guitarist (20 years),  fine artist -pencil realism, ex professional tattoo artist, scientific theorist, long distance precision rifle competitor, munitions maker- internal/external ballistics guru, wood craftsman (all traditional hand tools), motorcycle enthusiast, inventor, studied psychology, now and now in school to be a manual Machinist. cool video.

I am working as an industrial designer, with uI design and web developing as my side job. And as an illustrator before. And also amateur journalist, and consider another personal projects to write sagas, short stories, and poems. And another personal project creating board games. And also planning to get diving license, farming, opening a cafe, and forming a band. And looking forward to learn more about martial arts, yoga, fly an airplane, philosophy, economic, and get another degree on mastering business and engineering phd. need to learn another languages too, like mandarin, german, japanese, arabic, latin and icelandic. well maybe I am a polymath altough my colleagues, and families try to stop me from it ocassionally. Maybe they just see me as a day dreamer... I won't stop actually, and excited what the next days of my life will unravel to me.
