I just switched my work status from full-time to part-time. My main reason for doing that is because I need more REST! Yeah, for me, working full-time was just TOO PHYSICALLY EXHAUSTING. I work in the commercial cleaning field and I'm in my 50s.

Great points as usual! You make excellent point. I do think remote work is a gamechanger though.
My old part time was 5 hours per day + 2 hours travelling + 1 hour ( preparing to travel and settling down) = 8 hours.
A remote job is 8 hours per day without that stuff, so you get part time benefits just by being remote.

One major thing you miss is medical insurance and the costs of that. In the USA, your health insurance is almost tied to your employment and it can be extremely expensive if your employment doesn't provide it. Hence is why taking a full time job can be better for that reason alone. Example, a half a day in the ER can cost up $7, 000 for a minor visit while serious things can easily break $10, 000. Add in an ambulance ride which can be around $5000 for a short ride less than 5 miles. While trying to get insurance on the open market can cost easily up to $1000 to $2000 a month with high deductibles like $10, 000 to $20, 000. So, you can be paying like $12, 000 a year for crappy health coverage that would only pay back after you pay $20, 000 to medical expenses.

If only working part-time would equal full time money to be able to afford an apartment

Yes, I 'retired' from the workforce during the pandemic. My partner allows for me to be a Grateful Homemaker. Recently, he said that he'd like for me to contribute $300.00 monthly toward I'm not meaning to seem privileged or spoiled. Though, our home and vehicles are paid-off.... this is unnecessary. He said our home isn't as big since we downsized. Therefore, I have too much spare time at the house. Anyway, I'm not too keen on the idea of employment externally from the home. Though, I'm seeking a gig 2-days a week... at least until I can earn new housekeeping clients for my independent housekeeping business.

It's certainly a win for corporations who don't pay benefits, can mandate your hours and don't have to guarantee anything. Big box stores love it.
