Those are typical cheap apartment type of stove and fridge. There are MUCH better quality appliances you can buy.

The reason the heating elements can be moved, in the oven and the stove, is for easier cleaning. But both of them use technology from the 80s because they're in base housing.

The plastic on the wall in the shower is called a tub surround. The reason people/contractors use it is because it is way cheaper than installing tile.

As an American I can say that is a small frig compared to most here in the states.

3:28 the exposed element for stove/ovens is slowly disappearing as most newer ones have it hidden. That stove is a cheaper model, but those stove top heating elements can be removed for ease of cleaning under it.

You can pull the stove heating part out so you can clean underneath.

She's living on a base so her home is much more like a normal home than something fancy that a lot of people post.

Tile in a bathroom is standard but plastic surrounds are cheaper but easier to clean, no grout.

Those appliances are from 20 yrs ago. Like she said, base housing is behind the times.

The heating elements are removable so you can clean the drip pan and underneath them. That is a very low-end stove, I have the same one. The :”self-cleaning” feature works by allowing it to turn on both heating elements and then hold the internal temperature at around 700-800 degrees (F) for several hours. That burns off all the deposits. The control panel sets the oven temp, self-cleaning, allows you to set the clock, and also turn on the oven at a fixed time.

That's just a regular ole fridge. Now we have lots of BIG frigs, double doors, small TV screens in them, ice makers etc. The burner coils pull out and can easily be replaced in case it burns out or gets damage. I also put a silicone mat in the bottom of the oven which easily comes out for washing and put it back. The shower head can be easily replaced with dual heads. Thank goodness when I was stationed in Germany, I was in Army housing with ice makers, air conditioning etc.

Even the cat was upset about that Germany bed making style. That cat was traumatized.

The self cleaning feature in some ovens is pretty cool. To start the cleaning cycle, there is a lever that must be slid to the clean position, licking the oven door closed. The oven then heats up to 750°F (400°C) for 15 to 20 minutes. The oven door to released after that. When the oven has cooled down you can sweep all of the ashes of the stuff that was in there with a wisk broom and dust pan.

Lewis, screens are built into virtually all home windows. When you open a window, the screen is already there. I'm not sure if they're still available, but there used to be adjustable screens for windows that didn't have them.

In our prior American home, We had a showerhead that was a removable handheld. In my new home, 6 jets shoot out of the wall, there's a showerhead above me, a separate handheld, and a second handheld at the back of the shower where you can sit on a marble bench and hose off. Downstairs, pex tubing circulates hot water through the concrete slab and heats the whole home from an electric heat pump.

Acrylic tub and shower liners have become common in the US. Five years ago, the corporation that owns my apartment building upgraded all the kitchens and bathrooms. In the bathrooms, the installers dropped an acrylic liner inside the old ceramic tub and covered the walls with seamless acrylic panels. It great, no more scrubbing the grout between the tiles with an old toothbrush.
