with some courses it truly does Not matter as long as you have grades in something. i'm nearly 23 and starting a master's in september so i'm well past starting a-levels but i got into a music and musical theatre course with a level 3 extended diploma in animal management (which i then switched to history and music because it turned out i hated musical theatre). but you shouldn't bank on that; i was... very lucky (and my initial course was assessed by audition).

Some good points here and great to hear about your experiences, but some of the content isn't 100% accurate. There are a lot of courses that have specific requirements for A-Levels and some that would not accept things like BTEC extended diplomas unless you're studying A-Levels ASWELL. If you're stuck the best thing to do is check out the informed choices website (www.informedchoices.ac.uk) which is set up by the Russell Group of universities to help you pick the best A-Levels for you.
