Very helpful to me, as I'm looking to acquire (make? buy?) sculpture for my yard. I don't recall much mention of the shadows *cast* by sculpture against wall; e.g. Calder's wire sculpture portraits (I don't mean mobiles). Any thoughts from you on this? These works of Calder inspired me to a (comparatively pathetic) outdoor sculpture from spiral gardening gardening stakes, which cast shadows on a back wall, which along with those from an overhead arbor structure, change as the sun progresses through the day. P.S., It's endlessly amusing to watch people watch sculpture that moves, regardless of the source of the motion (people or light source).
