Also note that BNP is released during high output states like sepsis and cirrhosis. Additionally, while it is a semi specific market for HF, it is also elevated in renal failure. So if patient has elevated BNP, but no objective signs of heart failure, the clinician could and would look at the returning labs and see how the kidneys are doing..

Mine was at 1110 critical and was diagnosed with CHF but my cardiologist said that's incorrect, and my physician is depending on an echocardiogram for proof that I am dying
